📍 Tuesday Marketing Mix
Hey marketers,
If your brand content feels a little…meh…there’s a good chance your messaging isn’t pulling its weight.
You can write daily, post everywhere, and spend a fortune on ads—but if you don’t know what you stand for (and can’t explain it clearly), you’ll struggle to connect with your audience.
Today, I’m showing you how to master your brand message—with a repeatable framework you can use to sharpen your positioning, fuel your content strategy, and stand out in a crowded market.
Let’s get into it 👇
🚨 Why Brand Messaging Matters (A Lot)
Your brand message is not your tagline or mission statement.
It’s the core of your identity—what you do, why you do it, who you serve, and what makes you different.
Done right, it helps your audience:
âś… Instantly understand what you offer
âś… Know why they should care
✅ Feel like you “get them”
Messaging sits underneath your copy, campaigns, and even your customer experience. When it's strong, everything feels aligned. When it’s vague, even the best content falls flat.
🧱 The "Master Your Message" Framework
Here’s how to break your messaging into parts you can build on:
1. Know Your Product (What Are You?)
Before you market anything, define exactly what you’re selling. Not in vague terms—get specific.
Ask:
What does the product do?
What are its standout features?
What pain point is it solving?
If you’re selling a SaaS product, outline your feature set, integrations, and use cases. For services, break down your process, deliverables, and tools. Clarity starts here.
2. Own Your Purpose (Why Do You Exist?)
What sparked your brand into existence?
That origin story isn’t fluff—it’s your foundation. People don’t just buy products. They buy stories, missions, and shared values.
âś… Tell them the reason why you created your product or service
âś… Share what gap it filled or how it improved what's out there
✅ Highlight the founder’s story, customer frustrations, or aha moments
Your “why” is emotional glue. Use it often.
3. Define Your Difference (How Are You Different?)
What sets you apart in a sea of sameness?
Ask:
What do you offer that others don’t?
What do your best customers say about you?
What do you refuse to do that your competitors lean on?
This isn’t about being “the best.” It’s about being the most you. Clarity + boldness = standout messaging.
4. Find Your People (Who Are You For?)
Speak to everyone, and you’ll resonate with no one.
You need deep audience intel—actual data, not guesses. Use:
Surveys and customer interviews
Reddit threads and competitor reviews
Google Analytics, social insights, CRM data
Then, define personas around:
Needs and frustrations
Preferred channels
How they talk and what they value
The best content feels like it was made just for them. That only happens when you deeply know your audience.
5. Land Your Platforms (Where Do You Show Up?)
Your message might be brilliant—but if it’s showing up in the wrong places, your target audience won’t discover it.
âś… Look at your referral traffic in GA
âś… Use platform insights to gauge performance
âś… Spy on competitors to see where their engagement is highest
âś… Test content formats and posting times
Tailor your delivery to where your audience hangs out. Show up consistently, but only where it counts.
6. Be The Solution (Why Does This Matter?)
Now that you know your product, purpose, positioning, people, and platforms—it’s time to connect the dots.
Your message should express how you solve the audience’s real problem.
Example:
Instead of “We sell organic skincare,” say:
“We help people with sensitive skin restore balance and glow—with simple, botanical ingredients.”
âś… Focus on transformation
âś… Lean into outcomes
âś… Use the words your audience actually uses
When you hit this stage, your message stops being a noise—and starts becoming a need.
