How Content Marketing is Changing 2023 and BeyondI have gathered my expert insights and experience of the last 2 decades in the digital marketing world, to take a look at where content marketing is heading in 2023 and beyond. Here are some important ways I believe content marketing is changing, and what you can do:1. A Growing Focus on Interactive ContentIt's no surprise that in 2023 engagement is one of the most important metrics, as the recent Google content updates, as well as AI search engine advancements, have shown that engagement and page on time are key ranking factors, and will be for the long haul.It might seem like a daunting task, especially as the attention span of humans has decreased a lot over the last 15 years (from 15 seconds to 8.25 seconds.) But not all is lost, as social media platforms and advancements in coding offer us plenty of ways to engage our audience.A huge uptick in quizzes, polls, Reels, TikToks, surveys, and interactive infographics can be seen on all platforms. More content creators are making use of them as a form of engaging with their fanbase.2. Embracing Video ContentSpeaking of engagement, adding a video on your website won't just increase time spent on a page, but can increase conversions by 80%.Not to keep repeating myself, but Google's April updates again make mention of audio and visuals, as you can see below. The fact of the matter is, when it boils down to proving your expertise and experience, there is no better way than simply showing it. These changes will be especially important for blogs that create reviews.Other examples could be tutorials, product demos, and behind-the-scenes glimpses.3. Personalizing is Where It's AtTailoring content to individual preferences can significantly enhance engagement and conversion rates. In fact, 60% of consumers will choose to shop from you again after a personalized shopping experience, and the numbers are only growing. To complement personalization strategies throughout your website and other content, you can make use of things such as dynamic content, personalized emails, and customized landing pages. Chatbots are also now being created to offer better-personalized experiences.Personalization is a key marketing tactic used by luxury brands, with 72% of customers noting that they prefer luxury brands because of the personalized customer experience.4. Influencer Marketing Has Become the NormIn 2022 alone, 16.4 billion dollars was spent on influencer marketing. Why is it so popular?(Source)As a brand/business, influencer marketing is one of the most efficient ways to widen your reach considerably, to a targeted audience, at a fair price. And with the rise of platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, some of the influencers amass millions of followers by themselves. Influencers come with an established audience, which makes it fairly easy for a business to gauge whether their audience falls within your target group or not.Not just that, but you'll already have all the metrics such as how large their audience is, their key demographics such as age and location, as well as their viewing habits.Remember, content marketing is an ongoing process of experimentation, refinement, and adaptation. If you'd like to know more about content marketing, check out my Ultimate Guide to Content Marketing below.
