BrightEdge uncovered that Google is getting bolder with AI Overviews (AIO).Twenty-five percent of queries with eight words or more trigger AIO answers. That’s a big jump from the initial rollout of this AI feature. Google is showing growing trust in AIO’s accuracy.
Google relies on context awareness when choosing answers. Healthcare queries often cite a select few authoritative research centers. For instance, medical sources occupy nearly 72% of healthcare AIO results.That’s up from 54% at the start of January.
YouTube plays a mixed role in these results. Technical tutorials see a 40% rise in video citations.Meanwhile, health-related YouTube citations declined by 31%. This shift suggests Google focuses on the most relevant format for each question.

Users see step-by-step solutions, real-time relevance, and general guidance. BrightEdge also saw that day-to-day fluctuations in AIO decreased by 4.22%.
